Interview with Corpse Child

 1. Tell us a little about yourself and your writing background.

I am 23 years old, living on Gastonia, N.C. I have been writing since I was 17 years old,

and it was in 2020 that I began writing my first Novella, “Mortimer”.

2. What inspired you to start writing, and what keeps you motivated to continue?

I was inspired mainly by the books I was ingesting at the time, mainly King, Barker,

Lovecraft, and a hint of Poe. My dream and passion to be able to make writing horror

fiction is what keeps me wanting to continue.

3. Who are some of your biggest literary influences, and how have they impacted your writing

style?

My biggest sources of inspiration, I must say, because of their vivid scenery and

grotesque themes alone, must be Clive Barker and H.P. Lovecraft.

4. Can you give us an overview of your latest book and what inspired its storyline?

My latest tome of terror, my first full-length novel, “To Hunt Wraiths”, follows the story of

the ressurected Derick Lander, who is killed in a car crash and brought back, tasked by

the creator to destroy the forces that seek to bring about the end of existence itself. This

one was mainly inspired by “The Crow” by James O’Barr and the late 90s TV series,

“Brimstone”.

5. What themes do you explore in your writing, and why are they important to you?

Primarily, themes of shattered innocence, existentialism, and of the illusion of safety

being shattered. These are the core fundamentals within the art of fear, and of the times

of my life spent in internal anguish.

6. Could you share some insights into your writing process? Do you follow a specific routine or

have any unique habits?**

I mainly measure the days by word count. 1 day = 1,000 words written into SOMETHING.

7. Which of your characters do you relate to the most, and why?

Of all the ones I’ve written, the one I’d relate to the most is one from my yet unreleased

Gothic horror romance novel, “From Blood, With Love”, the vampire, Ducard Rovenclau.

Driven by the lustful whims of his witch mistress, he is commanded to spread his

vampiric plague throughout the countryside. He must decide whether to listen to his

heart, or his reason as a man.

8. How do you engage with your readers, and what role does social media play in your

connection with them?

I primarily engage with readers through my various social channels, and through my

email list.

9. Where can readers find and purchase your books? Do you have any upcoming events or

book signings?**

Amazon, Godless, and in my Citadel at www.corpsechildssanctuary.com/shop

10. What advice would you give to aspiring authors who are looking to get their work published?

Focus on yourself, don’t rely on others. They can be good allies, but in the end, your

sucess will depend on you. And don’t think too hard on HOW to write the story. The

BEST writing advice any author can actually give to another is three words: Just Fucking

Write!
