Tarot by Jake Bannerman
Despite her initial reluctance, Candy joins a group of girls who engage in witchy rituals, partly because it helps her fit in and they offer her food and drinks. The group meets at cemeteries, drinks wine, and pretends to perform magical rituals, though their understanding of magic is superficial and influenced by popular culture. After one such gathering, Candy experiences severe hangover symptoms, including confusion, lightheadedness, and an unusual craving for coffee, which she normally hates. Candy's condition worsens, leading to a hospital visit where she exhibits symptoms like varicose veins and a hunched back, alarming her family and doctors. While sedated, Candy repeatedly writes a phrase in what appears to be Hebrew, which translates to "72 hours in Berlin," adding to the mystery of her condition. Tarot is a young adult title, goth and glitz, and a mystery you will die trying to figure out.
